Thai Hot Compress Massage with CHristine Elphick
Hot compresses are bundles of specially chosen herbs that are wrapped up in muslin. They are then heated in a steamer which releases their healing properties and are applied to the body in a specific manner to increase energy flow, improve circulation, relax muscles and stimulate nerves. When applied to joints and muscles, hot compresses can soothe away pain and increase flexibility.
These little warm bundles are stroked over the body in a specific way, working along the meridian lines and can also be left to sit on specific acupressure points. Energy blocks can therefore be removed and the subtle energy is allowed to flow in a healthier manner, so benefiting the entire person.
The training will enable you to carry out a full body massage. The full procedure can be adapted to carry out treatments for specific smaller areas such as the back, neck and shoulders, legs or to carry out a facial.
Topics covered include: Overview of Thai Herbal medicine – The four elements Earth, Water, Air and Fire and their effects - location and stimulation of energy points and meridians - the properties of Thai herbs and how they are selected to carry out a full body massage using specific oils and herbal compresses
